Eat Local Hampshire will be an A2 folding poster that maps the food growing locally in Hampshire. It will showcase independent farms & producers across the county, celebrating abundance, seasonality and the importance of supporting local business. The map sits comfortably within the contemporary ‘Eat Local’ movement and comes at a bemusing political time within the UK whereby local farming is of great significance. As well as looking at what Hampshire soil already produces, it will also promote edible gardening at home, encouraging a deeper connection to our food and land.
Louiza (of Hampshire Table) is extremely pleased to be collaborating with the fantastic local artist, Caroline Misselbrook, who will be producing the maps’ illustrations – it is set to be stunning! During 2019, they’ll be researching, visiting farms, gathering materials, producing the content and designing the document. When the map is complete, it will then be handed over to our accomplished local printing press, Blunt who will produce 500 copies. These will then be available to purchase at Hampshire Farmers’ Markets’, local food festivals & events, featured farms and cafes, as well as Southampton’s local radical bookshop, October Books.
